Submissions for Specialist Awards, which recognise excellence in individual areas of legal practice should address clearly and specifically the following award criteria. Evidence should be confined to the period September 2005 to September 2006 (when submissions close) except where there is a relevant consideration, such as a matter that began prior to that period. Submissions should aim to demonstrate as clearly as possible how and why their provision of legal services benefited their clients.

Each of the following 5 sections may be up to 400 words in length. The total submission for this category should be no more than 2,000 words.

Market Significance
  1. Outline the growth that you have achieved in the relevant market in the relevant period.
  2. Outline the size of your firm’s footprint in this category (please provide data/evidence).
  3. Submit evidence that demonstrates your reputation and capability in this sector as a market leader (client testimonials, media, preferred supplier panels etc).
  4. Outline the growth that you have achieved in new markets (domestic and international). Outline your firm’s international presence (if applicable).
Matter Significance
  1. Provide details/statistics establishing the number and value of matters that you have managed in the relevant period.
  2. Provide details of the 3 most unique matters that your firm has managed in the relevant period, showing clearly why they are unique/significant.
Outcomes
  1. Detail the outcomes you have achieved for your clients in this market in the 12 months, showing why your contributions were significant.
  2. Outline the impact that your firm and the matters that you have managed has had within this sector in the relevant period.
  3. Explain the most significant and measurable outcome (one example only) that you have achieved within the relevant period.
Innovation
  1. Detail 3 examples of innovative/creative work that your firm has done in the relevant period and which has set a benchmark within this market.
  2. Outline how your firm has leveraged technology to develop a competitive advantage.
  3. Explain and provide evidence showing how your firm has developed new processes/procedures to more effectively manage client needs
  4. Demonstrate creative use of your firm’s ability to make the most effective and efficient use of your resources.
Additional relevant information

Include any additional information/data to explain why the nominee should win this award. Please note, however, that judges will be looking for evidence to support any statements and that this part of the submission should not include material already covered in the sections above.
